Last year, fans, friends, and family mourned the passing of ‘Coronation Street’ star Liz Dawn. The actress played Vera Duckworth for 34 years. Her character was first introduced in 1974 and the actress left the show in 2015. After a long battle with COPD, she passed away in September last year. Many paid tribute to the soap icon, including Labour MP and ‘Corrie’ actress Tracy Brabin, who told BBC News “she was a legend and an icon, an incredible person to work with [...] a heart as big as Manchester”.
Now, a fellow ‘Corrie’ star has shared a bittersweet memory of Dawn. Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, took to Twitter to pay tribute. “im watching classic eps on itv3 being reminded of just how wonderful our Vera was!”, Danson wrote. “Its making me laugh so much - she was totally fabulous”. The actress added “i miss her so much… our gorgeous Liz Dawn”. It seems like the stars had a special connection both on and off set.
