Ian Somerhalder won the hearts of thousands as Damon Salvatore in The CW's supernatural drama 'The Vampire Diaries,' and it's just been announced that he's signed on to star in a new vampire series called 'V-Wars.'
The Netflix Original 10-episode drama series is based on Jonathan Maberry's novel of the same name, and tells the story of Dr. Luther Swann (Somerhalder) and a millennia-old bacteria that mysteriously transforms his best friend into a blood-sucking predator.
Perhaps it's the jet-black hair, fair skin, and piercing blue eyes, or maybe it's the eight seasons-worth of practise Somerhalder had in playing an attractive mythological undead creature in 'The Vampire Diaries,' but it's safe to say that this career move is very on-brand. After all, his role alongside Canadian actress Nina Dobrev—whom he was also intimately involved with off-screen—contributed to the show's impressive ratings.
Somerhalder even began directing and producing episodes of the show, growing more deeply involved with the vampiric tale. He's also received several awards from Teen Choice and People's Choice for his on-screen role in the production.
Once a bloodsucker, always a bloodsucker?
