Former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Paula Lane will star in a play about the 2017 Manchester arena bombing. Lane, who played Kylie Platt on the soap, will star in '#BeMoreMartyn: The Boy with the Deirdre Tattoo'. The play is based on the life of Martyn Hett, who died in the attack. Lane will star as Hett's school friend, Rachel. The play’s script is a word-for-word transcript taken from interviews with Hett’s closest friends.
Lane told the BBC “I am so thrilled to be joining Hope Theatre Company and to help continue Martyn's legacy”. She added that “to speak Rachel's words and share her memories is an absolute honour and I'm looking forward to sharing this important message”. ‘#BeMoreMartyn’ will open at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre on May 21 and run until the 26. After that, it will be performed at the Brighton Fringe and at Southwark Playhouse, in London.
