Helena Bonham Carter is the latest star to join the cast of ‘The Crown’. The respected actress will play Princess Margaret in the third series of the royal drama. Netflix confirmed the casting after rumours about her involvement swirled for months. Bonham Carter will take the role from Vanessa Kirby, who played Margaret in the first two series.
“I'm not sure which I'm more terrified about - doing justice to the real Princess Margaret or following in [Vanessa's] shoes”, Bonham Carter told the BBC. “The only thing I can guarantee is that I'll be shorter”. It’s not the first time Bonham Carter’s played a royal. She starred as the Red Queen in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ back in 2010. The same year, she played Queen Elizabeth in ‘The King’s Speech’.
Bonham Carter has busy year ahead. She will also star in the all-female ‘Ocean’s 8’, alongside Rihanna, Sandra Bullock, and Anne Hathaway.
