TV Gilmore Girls
1. 'The Lord of the Rings'
At the end of season four, when Lorelai wasn't sure if Luke was interested in her, she said, "I’m currently one of the women sitting home, thinking, ‘If I could only find a man like Aragorn.’"
2. 'Master and Commander'
When Rory and Logan meet for the second time, the two immediately have a playful debate. Afterwards, Logan quotes Jack Aubrey from 'Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World' saying, “Now, tell me that wasn’t fun?” Then as he is leaving up the stairs, he goes as far as to say, "Master and Commander....that's what I want you to call me from now on."
3. Richard Nixon
In season five, the town of Stars Hollow holds an election, and Taylor Doose loses to Jackson Belleville in a landslide vote. When he goes to give his concession speech, Taylor references Richard Nixon's infamous press conference by saying, "You will have Taylor Doose to kick around again."
4. Natalie Wood
When the Gilmore's wardrobe consultant Miss Celine sees Lorelai she yells, "Oh my God, it's Natalie Wood!" Here she is referencing the similarities between her and the famous old Hollywood actress from the 1950s.
5. 'Cop Rock'
Lorelai and Rory have a flair for obscure television. In season five, they have a 'Cop Rock' marathon. For those who don't know, this was a highly criticized television show from the 90s that was canceled after 11 episodes.
6. 'The Way We Were'
During Luke and Lorelai's painful breakup, she ends up leaving a long voicemail that perfectly references the iconic Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand film.
