Fans of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ sat down to enjoy the show’s season finale on Thursday night. The bells were ringing as Amy (played by Mayim Bialik) married Sheldon (Jim Parsons) in a jam-packed episode. Unfortunately though, one scene had to be left on the cutting room floor. Producers edited out a scene which paid tribute to the late Stephen Hawking. The scene features Sheldon receiving a pocket watch, given by Hawking before he died.
Steve Holland, the series showrunner, said “the wedding was a big episode and it seemed like a good chance to pay some tribute to him. Steve Molaro had this idea that Hawking could have sent a gift before he passed”, in an interview with the Daily Reporter. However, timing proved to be an issue, and there just wasn’t enough time to throw it all together. “It's hard for us to be super timely because we shoot ahead of our airdates”, Holland explained. Fans will still be able to watch the scene online.
