TV Cruise ship

Jane McDonald has made history with her hit show, ‘Cruising With Jane McDonald’. The show won Best Feature at the TV Bafta Awards over the weekend. The win was unprecedented, being the first TV Bafta Award for a Channel 5 programme. The show is pretty simple. McDonald, a ex-cruise ship entertainer, goes on different cruise ship journeys around the world. After giving a breathless speech, she spoke to the BBC about the unlikely win.

“It's just me going on my holidays really, who would've thought I'd get a Bafta from doing that”, the presenter joked, adding “I would've done it ages ago if I would've known”. McDonald originally rose to fame in ‘The Cruise’ during the late ‘90s. It was a hit documentary with a similar concept, with McDonald taking trips on the luxury ‘Galaxy’ cruise. Talking to the BBC, the presenter said “I think cruising's had such a bad rap for such a long time, and I thought no, I'm going to show it as it really is. And I love it, I do love a cruise”. One journalist was cheeky enough to challenge her, saying he hated cruises. “You hate cruises? You've just not found the right one my darling”, Jane replied.
