Talk show host Bill O’Reilly is reportedly in advanced discussions to return to his 8 pm cable news show—but not on Fox. A year following the controversial sexual misconduct allegations and his abrupt departure from the news desk, O’Reilly will return as host for Newsmax TV, according to Page Six.
The cable news station is also in discussions with other former Fox News talent such as Greta Van Susteren and Eric Bolling. In addition, Newsmax TV may have former White House press secretary Sean Spicer lead a politically focused segment.
Page Six reports that a source a close to the media company explained, "The deals are not done yet, but talks are in the advanced stages, certainly with O’Reilly. The thinking is, following a 6 p.m. news show, Greta would anchor the 7 p.m. hour, O’Reilly would be back at 8 p.m., and Bolling could smoothly continue on at 9 p.m. Spicer, and his cohorts would go on at 10 p.m., with the later slot allowing the show to be looser. But the deals are not yet signed and sealed.”
O’Reilly hosting a Newsmax TV show at the same prime-time hour he was known for previously could lead to direct competition with his Fox News replacement, Tucker Carlson.
